Convert Images Between 10+ Formats

Pick any input format and any output format. The converter reads JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, BMP, TIFF, SVG, ICO, HEIC and RAW, and writes to any of the same formats — so PNG to JPG, WEBP to JPG, JPG to WEBP, TIFF to JPG, SVG to PNG and PNG to ICO all work in the same pass, even mixed together in one batch.

JPG

JPG & JPEG

The universal photo format. Small files, opens everywhere, and lossy — each save discards a little detail. Best for photographs, print submissions and anywhere a file-size limit applies. Use the quality slider to trade sharpness against size; 80–90% is usually indistinguishable from the original at a fraction of the weight.

PNG

PNG

Lossless, with real transparency. Best for logos, screenshots, icons and any graphic with flat colour or text. PNG files are considerably larger than JPG for the same photo, so convert PNG to JPG when you need to send or upload a photograph, and keep PNG when you need a transparent background.

WEBP

WEBP

Google's web format, typically 25–35% smaller than JPEG at comparable quality — which is why almost every Core Web Vitals audit recommends it. Convert JPG to WEBP to speed up a website. Convert WEBP to JPG when you need to open a downloaded image in older software, or hand it to a print vendor who won't accept it.

HEIC

HEIC from iPhone

iPhones save photos as HEIC to halve the storage, but Windows, many web forms and most older software refuse to open them. Drop your HEIC files here and convert HEIC to JPG in one batch — export a whole album from Photos, drag it in, and download the converted set as a ZIP. Nothing is uploaded, which matters more than usual with camera-roll photos.

SVG

TIFF, BMP, SVG, ICO and RAW

TIFF for archival and print masters. BMP for legacy Windows software. SVG for vector artwork — convert SVG to PNG when you need a fixed-size raster. ICO for browser favicons, converted straight from a PNG at the right dimensions. RAW for unprocessed camera files, converted to JPG, PNG or TIFF for editing and sharing.

Simple image conversion. Choose your format, upload your images and convert.
SMART COMPRESSION

Compress images without losing quality

Image compression reduces file size by discarding data the eye barely registers. How much you can discard before it shows depends on the image: a photograph tolerates aggressive compression, while a screenshot full of text shows artefacts quickly. The quality slider gives you direct control, and the preview shows the result before you commit — so you compress by eye, not by guesswork.

Lossless formats like PNG and TIFF keep every pixel exactly, so compression there only reorganises the data. JPEG and lossy WEBP genuinely discard detail, which is what makes them small. For most photographs, 85% quality cuts file size by more than half with no visible difference at normal viewing size.

01

Compress an image to an exact file size — 20KB, 50KB or 100KB

Online forms almost always impose a hard upload limit: 20KB for a signature, 50KB or 100KB for a photograph, 200KB for a scanned document. Set a target size and the compressor adjusts quality repeatedly until the output lands under the limit while staying as sharp as possible — so you don't have to save, check the file size, and try again at a lower setting.

This is the usual requirement for Indian government and exam application forms — SSC, UPSC, IBPS, NEET, JEE and passport applications all specify both a pixel size and a maximum file size in KB. Resize to the required dimensions first, then compress to the KB limit, and check the result in the preview before you upload it.

ADVANCED CONTROLS

DPI, colour space and advanced controls

Set output DPI when a printer asks for 300 DPI rather than the 72 DPI a screen image carries. Switch colour space between RGB for screen, CMYK for commercial print, and grayscale to drop colour entirely. Choose whether to keep or strip EXIF metadata. These are the controls that usually require desktop software — here they're checkboxes.

Resize, batch process and customize your images

Take control of your images with flexible resizing, bulk processing, watermarks and creative filters — all directly in your browser.

01
↔ RESIZE

Resize images by percentage or exact dimensions

Resize by percentage when you want everything proportionally smaller — 50% of a 4000px camera photo is still far more resolution than any web page needs. Resize by exact dimensions when a platform specifies them: 1080×1080 for an Instagram post, 1280×720 for a YouTube thumbnail, 2048×2048 for an e-commerce product image, or 35×45mm for a passport photograph. Aspect ratio is preserved unless you deliberately override it.

▦ BATCH

Convert and resize images in bulk

Every setting applies to the whole queue. Drop in a folder of photographs, choose one output format, one quality level and one set of dimensions, and process the entire batch in a single pass — then download the results individually or take everything at once as a ZIP.

There is no per-file upload limit and no daily cap, because nothing is being uploaded. The practical ceiling is your device's memory: a typical desktop handles a hundred or more photographs comfortably, and a phone handles fewer. Large RAW batches are the slowest case; convert those in groups.

✦ EDIT

Add watermarks and apply filters

Add a text watermark to every image in a batch and position it top-left, top-right, bottom-left, bottom-right or centre — useful for photographers sending proofs and for anyone publishing work they'd rather not see reused uncredited. Apply grayscale, sepia, vintage, invert, blur or sharpen across the whole queue, and rotate 90° clockwise, 180° or 90° counter-clockwise for images that came in sideways.

PRIVACY FIRST

Your images never leave your device

Most online image converters work by uploading your file to a server, converting it there, and sending it back. Your photograph sits on someone else's machine, subject to their retention policy and their security.

This tool does not work that way. Conversion runs inside your browser, using your own device's processor. Your images are never transmitted to Cartel Planet or to any third party — there is no upload step, so there is nothing to store, nothing to leak and nothing to delete afterwards. Close the tab and every trace is gone.

That distinction matters most for exactly the files people convert most often: personal photographs, ID documents, passport and exam application images, client work under NDA, and medical or legal scans. It also means the tool keeps working on a slow connection, since only the page itself is downloaded, not your files.

EXIF

EXIF data and what happens to it

Photographs carry hidden EXIF metadata — the camera model, the exact date and time, and often the GPS coordinates where the photo was taken. Sharing an unedited photo shares all of it. You choose: preserve EXIF when you need the camera data for cataloguing, or strip it to remove location and device information before publishing. Stripping EXIF also shaves a little off the file size.

HOW IT WORKS

How to convert an image in three steps

1
↑

Add your images.

Drag and drop your files onto the upload area, or click Select Images to browse. Add one file or an entire folder — mixed formats are fine in the same batch.

2
⚙

Choose your output settings.

Pick an output format, set the quality level or a target file size in KB, and apply any resize, rotation, filter or watermark you need. The preview updates so you can see the result before processing.

3
↓

Process and download.

Click Process Images. Download each converted file individually, or take the whole batch as a single ZIP. Everything happens on your device, so there's no upload wait and no queue.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is this image converter really free? +

Yes. There is no account, no subscription, no watermark on your output and no limit on how many files you convert.

Are my images uploaded to a server? +

No. Every conversion runs inside your browser using your own device's processor. Your files are never transmitted to Cartel Planet or to any third party, and nothing is stored anywhere after you close the tab.

How many images can I convert at once? +

There is no fixed limit. Because processing is local, the practical ceiling is your device's available memory — a typical desktop handles a hundred or more photographs in one batch.

Can I convert HEIC photos from my iPhone to JPG? +

Yes. Export the photos from your iPhone, drag the HEIC files in, choose JPG as the output format, and download the converted images individually or as a ZIP. Whole albums convert in one pass.

How do I compress an image to exactly 20KB? +

Add your image, set the target file size to 20KB, and the tool lowers JPEG quality step by step until the output falls under that limit while staying as sharp as possible. The same method works for 50KB, 100KB or any other limit a form specifies.

Will converting reduce my image quality? +

It depends on the output format. PNG, TIFF and lossless WEBP keep every pixel exactly. JPG and lossy WEBP discard some detail in exchange for much smaller files, and you control how much with the quality slider. At 85–90% quality, most photographs are visually identical to the original.

Does the tool remove EXIF and location data? +

Only if you ask it to. There is a setting to preserve EXIF metadata or strip it. Stripping removes the camera model, timestamp and GPS coordinates before you share the image.

Can I convert RAW files from my camera? +

Yes. Common RAW files convert to JPG, PNG or TIFF. RAW files are large, so process them in smaller groups than you would JPGs.

Does it work on a phone? +

Yes, in any modern mobile browser. There is nothing to install. Phones have less memory than desktops, so convert smaller batches.

What is the maximum file size? +

There is no server-side upload cap because nothing is uploaded. Very large files are limited only by your device's memory.

What's the difference between resizing and compressing? +

Resizing changes the pixel dimensions — how big the image is. Compressing changes the file size — how many kilobytes it takes up — while keeping the dimensions. Form requirements often specify both, so do them in that order: resize first, then compress to the KB limit.

Which format should I convert to? +

JPG for photographs you'll share or upload. PNG when you need transparency or sharp text. WEBP for images going on a website, where the smaller file speeds up page load. TIFF for print masters and archives.
